The Storm...

As you gathered from the previous posting, I was very interested in the storm that recently blew by our home. Mom captured some of it on video.

To add to this - a little conversation Mom and I had recently...

During lunch time:

Mom: Honey, a storm's coming.

Me: Is it a giant storm? (I don't like storms so Mom warns me in case I get scared.)

Mom: No, a small one.

Me: Like a baby storm.

Mom: Yes, like a baby storm.

Me: Does the storm's mama love it?

Mom: Yes, probably.

Me: Is it okay if I don't?

Mom: Yes.

Me: Does the storm have eyes?

Mom: No, it's made of clouds.

Later during the storm:

Me: Is that an airplane?

Mom: No, that's thunder. It's kind of the storm talking to us.

Me: Like Chick Hicks' thunder? (referencing a favorite car in "Cars")

Mom: Kind of. The clouds are full of lightning and when it flashes it makes thunder.
Me: That's like when you shock me with static?

Mom: Exactly. I think I fed you too much fish oil. Let's go read before you ask a question I don't have an answer for.
Me: Mom, does the storm have choking hazards?
Mom: No, I don't think so?
Me: The hail aren't choking hazards?
Mom: I suppose, maybe.
Me: Then we shouldn't let Bebe Sister see the storm?
Mom: Most definitely not.

Allergy Appointment...

This past Friday I had an appointment with Dr. J, my pediatric allergist. Mom has been conerned that I have a milk allergy because when I started drinking it my eczema became significantly worse.

Because Mom often practices pediatric exams on me, I have become quite good at sitting still for them. Dr. J said I was an excellent patient - especially through two panels of skin scratch testing. Which to be honest, is not bad at all. Especially when I get to blow bubbles and play with my toys.

What was interesting is everything came back negative - even dog. However, the last time I was tested the dog allergy was picked up via a transdermal test not scratch test. Therefore, likely it is still positive. And a negative skin test here does not necessarily mean I am not allergic to milk. The autoimmune response that mediates an allergic skin reaction is a bit different than other types. So, we're going to keep me off milk one more month. Then we'll reintroduce milk. If the eczema flares up again, we know I am allergic.

A very pleasant time. We made time to see the fish. There were four fish who had died. That was a challenging conversation for Mom but appropriately timed for Easter. More on that later.

A successful exam. We'll just see what the next couple of months bring. In the mean time, I'll continue my morning coconut milk yogurt for breakfast - not too bad, actually.

Eye Appointment...

 On Monday I went to the eye doctor for a recheck of my strabismus. 

I have been wearing a patch on my right eye (dominant eye) for 1-2 hours every morning the past 8 months. In addition, I was also given a stronger prescription for my eye glasses at that time, too. 

Since the very beginning when I first saw Dr. W, I have made amazing progress. The vision in my weak eye has gone from 20/600 to 20/30. 

At my last appointment 4 months ago, it was 20/60. She was most pleased with the progress I've been making. In fact, I do not have to go back for another 5 months. 

Mom and Dad told me they are so very proud of the work I've been doing to improve my vision. I love wearing my glasses and ask for them first thing in the morning. If they did not fog up, I'd wear them in the tub, too!

Plus, it's just nice to be able to see. We are all most grateful for modern technology, medicine, and divine intervention, too. All things that have made it possible.

Where I park my Cars...

My garage has become a parking garage of late. But it's hours of entertainment. I like that and Mom and Dad really enjoy that!

Conversations...

As we were driving the other day...

Me: MAMA!!! Stop the car!

Mom: (stopping the car in the parking lot) What honey?

Me: There's a leaf crossing the road.

At breakfast this morning (Mom and I discuss our day every morning)...

Me: What are we going to do after breakfast?

Mom: Brush our teeth.

Me: What are we going to do after we brush our teeth?

Mom: Do chores.

Me: What are we going to do after chores.

Mom: Run errands.

Me: What are we going to do after errands?

Mom: Play.

Me: What are we going to do after play time?

Mom: Eat lunch.

Me: What are we going to do after lunch?

Mom: Have nappies. Do you want your nap?

Me: Yeah - I think I'll be ready for nap time especially after errands.

(I'm really interested in time and sequence of events these days.)

My most common saying at the moment: Play for a few minutes?

Easter Project...

Just a simple Dollar Store craft project - something Mom found for occupying my time while she worked on a really big cake. (She'll tell you more about that next week!)

By the way, I am feeling about 90% better. My cough is still lingering but I'm doing well. Still taking my breathing treatments but only once per day. And today at the library Mom found me a Spanish video to watch, too.
